Preventative Care

Preventative Care

We want to help you prevent disease. We believe in healthy smiles! Maintaining a regular home care routine designed by your hygienist, with you in mind, is imperative. Our team works with you to avoid dental emergencies and keep your teeth in optimum condition.

Comprehensive Exams

Once a year during your professional hygiene visit, Dr. Watterson or Dr. Trancik will thoroughly evaluate you for cavities, oral cancer, periodontal disease, bite disease and any smile concerns you may have. Should further treatment be necessary, a specialized plan of action will be developed just for you.

Using a variety of high tech instruments, our hygienists are able to customize a program that keeps your smile healthy. We suggest seeing your hygienist for regular maintenance at least twice each year, unless otherwise recommended. Communicate with your hygienist what you would like to achieve with your care.

Think of them as rain jackets for your teeth! Dental sealant is a thin coating painted on the chewing surfaces of back teeth to prevent tooth decay. The sealant bonds into the depressions and grooves of the teeth, forming a protective shield over the enamel of each tooth. When regular oral health care at home is lacking, sealants can help drastically reduce the amount of tooth decay in children and adolescents, but people of all ages can experience benefits from sealants!

Gum Disease Therapy

All is not lost if you have gum disease! You might not even be aware of gum disease. Our highly skilled hygienists perform therapeutic cleanings to restore your gums to good health. The goal of gum disease treatment is to control the infection while preventing bone loss and keeping tissue from further damage.
